# 12 Best CMMC Compliance Services (2026)

> Compare the 12 best CMMC compliance services in 2026. What each provider does, what stays on your team, pricing, and what the Phase 2 suspension changed.

A prime has flowed down a CMMC Level 2 requirement, or a solicitation names a self-assessment as a condition of award, and the SPRS score your company posted two years ago was a guess.

Someone has to implement the 110 NIST SP 800-171 controls, write the System Security Plan, collect the evidence, and sign an affirmation that it is all true. Nobody internal wants that signature on their name.

That is where most searches for the best CMMC compliance services in the US start in October 2026, and the ground has moved under them.

On July 13, 2026, the Department of Defense suspended CMMC Phase 2, the step that would have made third-party C3PAO assessments a condition of award for most CUI contracts from November 10, 2026, and a September 3 class deviation directed contracting officers to strip third-party assessment requirements from solicitations.

What did not change: Level 1 and Level 2 self-assessments still appear in contracts, SPRS scores must be current, annual affirmations are still signed by a senior official, and DFARS 252.204-7012 still requires NIST SP 800-171 for anyone handling CUI. Voluntary C3PAO assessments continue, existing Level 2 certificates remain valid for three years, and primes may still require them.

So the job a CMMC compliance service does right now is less about a certificate and more about the work the certificate was going to verify: implementing the controls, documenting them, keeping them true, and being ready for the assessment whenever a prime, a contracting officer or a reinstated Phase 2 asks for it. The question is who performs that work. Four kinds of provider answer it:

1. Authorized C3PAOs assess and certify at Level 2. Cyber AB rules bar a C3PAO from assessing an organization it helped prepare, so a C3PAO that also sells readiness runs the two through separate teams or clients.
2. Registered Provider Organizations and managed service providers implement and operate: they build the CUI enclave, often on Microsoft GCC High, and run the controls inside it.
3. Compliance platforms give your team a workspace to track the 110 controls, store the System Security Plan and collect evidence; your team does the implementing.
4. A service performs the program on one control library and maps it to the other frameworks your customers ask for, with your team reviewing and signing and an authorized C3PAO remaining the independent party whenever a third-party assessment is in scope.

Twelve providers made the list, each confirmed from its own published material: five authorized C3PAOs, two enclave and managed-service providers, one consultancy, three compliance platforms and EasyAudit.

Each was assessed on who performs the work, pricing clarity, timeline commitment, who issues the result and how independence is handled, reuse into SOC 2, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF 2.0, fit for GCC High and physical operations, and evidence an assessor will accept.

We built EasyAudit, so read our entry with that in mind. The scoring is published below, and we scored ourselves on the same seven criteria as everyone else, with one adjustment explained in the methodology.

The verdict in a nutshell: EasyAudit is the best overall pick for defense suppliers and other regulated companies that need NIST SP 800-171 implemented and kept true by a committed date, want the work performed rather than tracked, and need the same controls to serve SOC 2 or ISO 27001 when a commercial customer asks.

The [Compliance Simulation](https://cevuno.co/compliance-simulation) is free, runs on your real environment, takes about 75 minutes of scheduled time across two calls, and the report is yours either way. A-LIGN is the strongest C3PAO for a buyer who wants readiness, an evidence platform and the assessment from one authorized firm. Summit 7 is the managed-enclave pick for a GCC High estate.

Secureframe is the strongest platform with an expert bench, and Coalfire Federal is the C3PAO to choose when you want a mock assessment by the people who will run the real one.

## Where CMMC Stands in October 2026

The program rule at 32 CFR Part 170 took effect December 16, 2024. The DFARS acquisition rule took effect November 10, 2025, opening Phase 1: contracting officers could require Level 1 and Level 2 self-assessments as a condition of award. Phase 2, adding Level 2 C3PAO assessments for most CUI contracts, was scheduled for November 10, 2026.

On July 13, 2026, the Department suspended advancement to Phase 2 and stood up a CMMC Reform Task Force for a 60-day review. A September 3, 2026 class deviation implemented the suspension, directing contracting officers to remove Level 2 C3PAO and Level 3 DIBCAC requirements from solicitations and contracts.

As of this writing no replacement Phase 2 date has been published, and the task force's recommendations were expected in late September or early October.

What still applies: DFARS 252.204-7012 safeguarding and incident reporting, NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 2 implementation for anyone handling CUI, SPRS score posting under DFARS 7019 and 7020, Level 1 annual self-assessments and Level 2 triennial self-assessments with annual affirmations where the contract carries them, and prime flow-down.

Voluntary C3PAO assessments remain available, C3PAOs still issue Level 2 certificates, and existing certificates satisfy any award calling for Level 1 or Level 2.

For a buyer, the practical reading is this. The controls are not optional and never were. The self-assessment is a signed affirmation by a senior official that the controls are implemented, and the score behind it has to be defensible.

The third-party assessment is paused as a federal requirement, available voluntarily, and one prime contract or one task force recommendation away from returning. A CMMC compliance service worth buying in 2026 implements the controls, keeps them true, and leaves you assessment-ready on whatever date the requirement arrives.

## How We Evaluated These CMMC Compliance Services

Seven criteria, scored one to ten and weighted, with the weights published so the arithmetic is yours to check.

They follow what defense suppliers ask before committing: who implements the controls, what it costs with and without an assessment, whether a date is committed, who issues the result, and whether the same controls serve the commercial customers asking for SOC 2 or ISO 27001.

The criteria, the weights and every provider's scores are identical across every page of this series, with one adjustment on this page: EasyAudit scores 9 rather than 10 on timeline certainty, because its fee-at-risk guarantee attaches to readiness for a third-party assessment, and on the self-assessment path there is no third party to submit to; the timeline is dated in the Simulation, but no fee is at risk on a self-assessment alone.

### Our Scoring Methodology

| **Criterion** | **Weight** | **What we looked for** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Work performed for you versus work left on your team | 25% | Who implements the 110 NIST SP 800-171 controls, writes the System Security Plan and policies, collects the evidence, scores the self-assessment and prepares for a third-party assessment. |
| Pricing clarity and commitment terms | 20% | Whether a buyer can see a program price before signing, what the enclave or platform costs, and what happens at renewal and when a C3PAO assessment is added. |
| Timeline certainty and consequence if missed | 15% | Whether the provider commits to a date for assessment readiness or SPRS submission, and what it costs the provider if the date slips. |
| Assurance handling and independence | 15% | Who issues the result, whether that party is an authorized C3PAO where one is in scope, whether the provider that prepared you can also assess, and how independence is documented. |
| Multi-framework reuse | 10% | Whether the NIST SP 800-171 controls and evidence carry into SOC 2, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF 2.0, or start a new project. |
| Environment fit | 10% | Microsoft GCC High and 365 estates, on-prem systems, manufacturing and lab floors, and the enclaves CUI actually lives in. |
| Evidence a third party will accept | 5% | Approvals recorded with who and when, an audit trail the application cannot bypass, and read-only access for an assessor, prime or DIBCAC reviewer. |

Work performed carries the heaviest weight because the affirmation is signed by a person. A platform that tracks 110 controls still hands every unimplemented one back to your engineers. A C3PAO that assesses you cannot, by rule, have fixed what it finds.

The senior official who signs the annual affirmation is attesting to work someone did, and the buyer discovers who that someone is about six weeks after signature.

## 12 Best CMMC Compliance Services in 2026 Reviewed

What is the best CMMC compliance service? With Phase 2 suspended, the one that gets the 110 controls implemented and documented, keeps them true between affirmations, and leaves you ready for a C3PAO on whatever date a prime or a reinstated rule names, with the same controls serving SOC 2 and ISO 27001 when commercial customers ask.

Here is how the top CMMC compliance companies of 2026 compare on that test, ranked by the score above.

### 1. EasyAudit

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1600x769/889291d259/best-soc-2-compliance-services-01-easyaudit.webp)

**Best for:** defense suppliers and other regulated companies that need NIST SP 800-171 implemented and kept true by a committed date, with the same controls serving SOC 2 or ISO 27001 when a commercial customer asks.

**Compliance Service Score:** 9.2/10

#### Service Overview

EasyAudit is a compliance service for organizations that have to be compliant and do not want to run compliance. A named human compliance expert leads your engagement from start to finish, the AI Compliance Officer executes the recurring work, and the platform is the shared foundation and memory both work from. One service, not three products.

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/2880x1800/ea5ad91373/01-simulation-report-pwc-alternatives-companies-like-deloitte-2x.png)

For CMMC that means the NIST SP 800-171 controls implemented, the System Security Plan and policies written from your environment, the evidence collected and kept current, and the authorized C3PAO coordinated whenever a third-party assessment is in scope.

If a prime has flowed down Level 2, a solicitation names a self-assessment as a condition of award, or your SPRS score needs to become defensible before someone signs the next affirmation, and the people who would otherwise implement 110 controls are your IT lead and whoever runs the shop floor, we built it for you, and we built it for regulated companies: the ones whose customers, regulators, insurers or contracts require proof, in whatever industry that pressure arrives.

Two things set us apart in this guide:

1. One control library serves every framework your customers ask for. The NIST SP 800-171 controls implemented for CMMC satisfy SOC 2, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF 2.0 wherever each asks for them, one evidence set covers all mappings, and the free Compliance Simulation scores your readiness per framework before you sign.
2. The date is locked at signature and our fee is behind it wherever a third-party assessment is in scope, with the authorized C3PAO remaining the independent party that decides the result.

#### The 3 CMMC Problems We Built EasyAudit to Solve

#### The SPRS score is a promise someone signed

A Level 2 self-assessment produces a score out of 110 and an annual affirmation signed by a senior official that the controls are implemented. Many suppliers posted a score years ago from a spreadsheet and have been renewing the affirmation since. The suspension of Phase 2 did not pause that affirmation; it made it the only verification standing between the company and its contracts.

We make the score true. Every control is implemented, documented in a System Security Plan written from your environment, and backed by evidence traceable to source. The Simulation scores your readiness against NIST SP 800-171 before you sign, so the first honest number is a free one, and 3,950+ continuous monitoring checks keep the controls true between affirmations.

#### The controls live in an estate the platforms were not built for

CUI lives in Microsoft GCC High tenants, on-prem file servers, manufacturing systems and lab networks, and the physical controls in NIST SP 800-171 reach onto the shop floor: visitor logs, badge access, media handling. Compliance platforms built for cloud-native SaaS collect evidence from AWS and stall at the enclave boundary.

We were built for physical and regulated operations. Continuous monitoring covers Microsoft 365 and Purview, Entra ID, Intune and Azure alongside AWS and GCP, and where a control requires it our named expert attends the facility. Evidence that an integration cannot reach is collected and attached by us, not left for your team to screenshot.

#### The same controls get bought three times

A defense supplier with commercial customers is asked for CMMC by the prime, SOC 2 by the enterprise buyer and ISO 27001 by the international tenant. The controls overlap by 60 to 80 percent, and in most engagements each framework is a separate project with its own readiness assessment, its own evidence collection and its own invoice.

We run one control library that every framework maps into. A control implemented for NIST SP 800-171 satisfies SOC 2, ISO 27001 and NIST CSF 2.0 wherever each asks for it. One control satisfies up to seven frameworks, one evidence set covers all mappings, and the program carries 60 to 70 percent fewer controls than running frameworks in parallel. Add a framework. Do not add a person.

#### Frameworks Covered

[CMMC](https://cevuno.co/frameworks/cmmc), NIST CSF 2.0, SOC 1, SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001 and ISO 9001, on one control library. NIST SP 800-171 controls map into NIST SP 800-53 families and into the Trust Services Criteria and Annex A, so a defense supplier's CMMC program is the foundation for the SOC 2 report an enterprise customer asks for next.

One control satisfies up to seven frameworks, and the program carries 60 to 70 percent fewer controls than running them in parallel.

#### Self-Assessment, Voluntary C3PAO, or Both

Three paths exist in October 2026, and the Simulation Report says which applies to you. If your contracts carry Level 1 or Level 2 self-assessment, we implement and document the controls, support your SPRS scoring, and prepare the evidence behind the affirmation your senior official signs; the dated timeline is in the Simulation, and no third party is involved.

If a prime requires a C3PAO certificate or you choose a voluntary assessment, we prepare you and coordinate the authorized C3PAO you select, and the Audit-Ready Guarantee applies: assessment-ready and submitted by the committed date, or you do not pay, for eligible engagements. The C3PAO alone decides the result.

If Phase 2 is reinstated, the program you already run is the one that gets assessed.

#### Pricing

The investment is fixed at signature, from the Compliance Simulation run on your own environment. The Simulation Report includes readiness per framework, every material gap prioritized, the work required, a dated timeline, the investment, and a written recommendation from the expert who ran it. The report is yours either way. For a directional figure before the Simulation, use the [cost calculator](https://cevuno.co/compliance-calculator).

The comparison that holds is against what the program costs to build and keep: the RPO gap assessment, the enclave build, the consultant hours, the internal time between affirmations, and the second and third frameworks bought as separate projects. We replace the service spend, not the tooling line.

C3PAO assessment fees remain separate wherever a third-party assessment is in scope, because an authorized C3PAO issues the result. We are not the lowest-priced option in this guide, and we say so under Tradeoffs.

#### What Stays On Your Team

Business knowledge, review of key decisions, and the signatures the rule reserves for you: the System Security Plan approval, the policies, and the annual affirmation a senior official signs. Under ten hours a year in steady state, because the recurring work transfers to us instead of shrinking on your calendar. We write the policies; your team reviews and signs. Controls are accepted in one click with who approved and when recorded. A 15-minute meeting closes three to four evidence items. Signed-statement templates mean you never hit a dead end.

#### Setup

The Compliance Simulation runs on your real environment in about 75 minutes of scheduled time across two 30-minute calls.

A mutual NDA the same day; documents dropped into a workspace without cleanup, your existing SSP and SPRS score included if you have them; a scoping questionnaire that establishes where CUI lives; read-only connections, with temporary credentials and OAuth, live on the first call.

The environment is pre-built before decision makers join the second call, where they see readiness against NIST SP 800-171 and every other framework in scope, gaps, price and the committed date on their own data.

#### Tradeoffs

We are not a C3PAO and never assess or certify; a buyer who wants readiness and the Level 2 assessment from one authorized name will look at A-LIGN, Coalfire Federal or Redspin and should ask how the two are separated.

We do not build or host a GCC High enclave; a supplier that needs its CUI environment stood up and run as managed infrastructure will pair a managed service provider such as Summit 7 with us or choose it instead. A GRC team that wants to operate the program itself is better served by Vanta, Drata or Secureframe.

We are not built for a 1 to 10 person company with one Level 1 contract. We cost more than a software seat, and the guarantee covers readiness and submission for a third-party assessment by the committed date for eligible engagements, not the assessor's decision and not the self-assessment path alone.

#### Support

One named compliance expert owns your program end to end: sets the plan, checks every piece of work, coordinates the C3PAO when one is in scope, prepares the evidence behind each affirmation, and checks in with you every two days.

Where NIST SP 800-171 physical controls require it, they attend your facility; manufacturing floors, labs and data centers are in scope. You never have to log in; you always can.

### 2. A-LIGN

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1600x767/8026d70a21/best-pwc-competitors-02-a-lign.webp)

**Best for:** organizations that want a readiness assessment, an evidence platform and the Level 2 C3PAO assessment from one authorized firm, with SOC 2 or FedRAMP alongside.

**Compliance Service Score:** 7.7/10

A-LIGN is an authorized C3PAO and FedRAMP 3PAO with more than 1,000 federal assessments completed by its own count, and it offers both a CMMC readiness assessment and the Level 2 assessment, with its A-SCEND platform for evidence in between. It has published partnerships with managed security providers including Summit 7 and PreVeil for organizations that need implementation help.

#### Service Overview

Per A-LIGN, prime and subcontractors can engage it for a CMMC readiness assessment and, separately, for the C3PAO assessment, and organizations needing hands-on preparation are directed to its strategic partners. A-SCEND centralizes evidence and reuses submissions across frameworks, which matters for a supplier also carrying SOC 2 or FedRAMP. A-LIGN also audits ISO 27001 and HITRUST.

#### Pricing

Quote only; A-LIGN publishes no rates for readiness or assessment. A-SCEND's automation and audit-readiness features are on a free tier. Ask how readiness and assessment are priced separately and how the Cyber AB conflict-of-interest rule is handled if you want both.

#### What Stays On Your Team

Remediation and program operation. A-LIGN identifies gaps and later assesses; the implementation, the SSP and the evidence between are your team's or a partner's. Where A-LIGN assesses, Cyber AB rules mean it did not prepare you.

#### Setup

Sales-led scoping, then readiness, then assessment scheduling. Peak-season lead time applies.

#### Tradeoffs

A-LIGN is the strongest single authorized firm for a buyer who wants the readiness assessment, the evidence platform and the C3PAO assessment, and its partnerships supply the implementation it cannot perform for an organization it will assess. The work between is yours or a partner's, and no readiness date is committed.

### 3. Schellman

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1600x768/b61f7595c7/best-pwc-competitors-04-schellman.webp)

**Best for:** organizations whose CMMC program sits beside SOC 2 and ISO 27001 and who want one authorized firm to assess all three.

**Compliance Service Score:** 7.4/10

Schellman & Company is an authorized C3PAO alongside its licensed CPA practice and its ANAB and UKAS accreditation for ISO 27001, which makes it the firm to consider when a CMMC program sits next to a SOC 2 report and an ISO 27001 certificate. Readiness and advisory run through the separate Schellman Compliance entity.

#### Service Overview

Level 2 C3PAO assessments, SOC 1 and SOC 2 examinations, ISO 27001 certification and FedRAMP, HITRUST and PCI DSS from one organization, with readiness through the non-attest entity. Schellman sells no platform and works with the major ones.

#### Pricing

Quote only, scoped by engagement. Schellman publishes no rates. Ask for readiness and assessment priced separately, and for the SOC 2 and ISO 27001 work on one page if you carry those too.

#### What Stays On Your Team

All implementation and program operation. The non-attest entity advises; the assessing entity assesses.

#### Setup

Engagements are scheduled in advance, with Q4 and Q1 peak planning.

#### Tradeoffs

Schellman fits a supplier that wants one authorized name across CMMC, SOC 2 and ISO 27001. It is not an implementation service, no readiness date is committed, and the enclave and the controls are yours to build.

### 4. ![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1600x771/845388af63/best-nist-csf-compliance-services-02-secureframe.webp)

**Best for:** teams that will implement NIST SP 800-171 themselves and want a platform with an in-house expert bench included.

**Compliance Service Score:** 7.3/10

Secureframe supports CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 as frameworks in its compliance platform and includes an in-house compliance expert bench in the subscription. The experts guide your team's implementation rather than performing it, and the platform supports more than 40 frameworks.

Continuous monitoring across 150-plus integrations, policy templates, personnel and vendor management, risk management and a Trust Center, with CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 controls mapped and a Federal plan tier. The expert bench answers questions and reviews evidence.

#### Pricing

Quote only. Vendr's dataset shows a median contract of about $20,000 per year across 16 purchases in 2026, single-framework contracts commonly in the $12,000 to $25,000 range, and enterprise multi-framework contracts to $60,000 or more. Each additional framework carries an incremental fee reported near $7,500 per year by third-party guides. C3PAO fees are separate.

#### What Stays On Your Team

Implementing the controls, writing the SSP, building or scoping the enclave, closing every failing test and collecting evidence outside the integrations. The expert bench guides.

#### Setup

Quote-led, then onboarding; integrations connect early and experts support kickoff and evidence review.

#### Tradeoffs

Secureframe is a good fit for a team that will implement NIST SP 800-171 itself and wants a knowledgeable voice included. Reviews cite false positives and failed integrations including Azure connection failures; for a GCC High tenant and on-prem CUI systems, verify integration coverage before signing.

### 5. Vanta

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1600x770/c96f6ed54c/best-nist-csf-compliance-services-03-vanta.webp)

**Best for:** in-house GRC or security teams that want a broad compliance workspace with CMMC as one framework among many.

**Compliance Service Score:** 7.0/10

Vanta is one of the most widely adopted compliance platforms, with thousands of customers by its own count and the largest auditor and partner network in the category. CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 are supported frameworks in a broad library, and the program is built and run by your team.

#### Product Overview

Plans are Essentials, Plus, Professional and Enterprise, with policy generation, automated evidence collection, continuous controls monitoring, a Trust Center and an auditor network. Higher tiers add access management, questionnaire automation, risk management and custom tests. Vanta's AI agent drafts policies and proposes remediation code for failing tests.

#### Pricing

Vanta's own pricing page offers personalized quotes only. Its AWS Marketplace listing prices a 12-month contract for 1 to 20 employees at $14,000 for Essentials, $21,500 for Plus and $23,000 for Professional, per SOC2Auditors.org (August 2026). Vendr's dataset shows annual contracts from about $7,500 to $56,781 with a $20,000 median. Each framework is priced separately. C3PAO fees are separate.

#### What Stays On Your Team

Everything the platform surfaces: implementation, the SSP, the enclave, remediation and assessor management.

#### Setup

Integrations connect quickly for cloud-native stacks; monitoring begins once live.

#### Tradeoffs

Vanta fits a GRC or security team that will implement the controls itself and wants the broadest partner network. It is a poor fit for a supplier whose CUI lives in GCC High and on-prem systems the integration library assumes away, and for a company with nobody to operate it. No outcome guarantee is offered.

### 6. Coalfire Federal

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1600x763/92dc6e1b29/best-pwc-competitors-03-coalfire.webp)

**Best for:** defense suppliers that want advisory from an RPO and a mock assessment from the C3PAO that will run the real one, with FedRAMP alongside.

**Compliance Service Score:** 7.0/10

Coalfire Federal is both an authorized C3PAO, able to conduct official assessments since January 3, 2025, and a Registered Provider Organization, and its own materials describe a path from advisory and mock assessment to the official Level 2 assessment and a roadmap for maintaining compliance afterward. It is also a FedRAMP 3PAO with twenty years in federal cybersecurity.

#### Service Overview

Per Coalfire Federal, advisory services prepare an organization for assessment, a mock assessment rehearses it, and the C3PAO team then conducts the Level 2 assessment and prepares a Conformity Assessment report reviewed with the client. Assessment duration varies with size, complexity and level. Coalfire Federal describes mature assessment processes designed to reduce evidence churn and keep timelines on track, and ongoing validation and reassessment afterward.

#### Pricing

Quote only, scoped by engagement. Coalfire Federal publishes no rates. Ask for advisory, mock assessment and official assessment priced separately, and how the RPO and C3PAO roles are kept apart for your organization.

#### What Stays On Your Team

Remediation and program operation between advisory and assessment. Cyber AB conflict-of-interest rules mean the team that advised you is not the team that assesses you.

#### Setup

Sales-led scoping; advisory first where engaged, then mock assessment, then the official assessment.

#### Tradeoffs

Coalfire Federal is the C3PAO to choose when you want a rehearsal from the organization that will run the real assessment, and when FedRAMP sits alongside. The model is advisory and assessment, not implementation: the controls, the SSP and the enclave are yours to build, and no readiness date is committed.

### 7. CBIZ Pivot Point Security

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1600x769/5a4abcf7d8/best-nist-csf-compliance-services-04-cbiz-pivot-point-security.webp)

**Best for:** organizations that need a scoped gap assessment against CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 and a roadmap, with vCISO hours and penetration testing available.

**Compliance Service Score:** 6.9/10

Pivot Point Security, now part of CBIZ, lists CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 among its core compliance practices alongside ISO 27001, SOC 2 and HITRUST, and offers gap assessments, virtual CISO services, internal audit and penetration testing. It is a consultancy: it assesses and advises rather than providing a system or operating an enclave.

#### Service Overview

Per its own site, a CMMC engagement produces a gap assessment against NIST SP 800-171 with a prioritized roadmap, with vCISO hours available to help execute it, internal audit to test the result, and penetration testing where controls require it.

#### Pricing

Quote only, scoped by engagement. Ask what the gap assessment costs, what the roadmap contains, and how vCISO hours are priced if you want help executing.

#### What Stays On Your Team

Remediation and program operation between assessments, unless vCISO hours are scoped to cover them.

#### Setup

Sales-led scoping, then interviews, documentation review and a scored gap assessment.

#### Tradeoffs

CBIZ Pivot Point Security fits an organization that wants a defensible gap assessment and a roadmap, especially where ISO 27001 or SOC 2 sits alongside CMMC. The model is advisory: the implementation is yours, the score is a point in time, and a C3PAO must be appointed separately.

### 8. Drata

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1600x755/c3a3db673b/best-nist-csf-compliance-services-05-drata.webp)

**Best for:** engineering-led teams that want to treat NIST SP 800-171 as code alongside SOC 2 on one platform.

**Compliance Service Score:** 6.9/10

Drata is a compliance platform positioned for engineering-led teams, with CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 among its supported frameworks, continuous control monitoring and an assessor workspace. The program is built and run by the customer.

#### Product Overview

Plans are Foundation, Essential, Advanced and Enterprise. The platform monitors controls continuously, maps evidence across frameworks, provides a policy center and gives assessors a dedicated workspace. The Drata Trust Center handles security reviews.

#### Pricing

Quote only, with no free tier and a one-year minimum commitment. Reported medians differ by dataset: Orbiq cites a Vendr median of about $24,600 per year across 222 tracked purchases; UnderDefense cites a median near $38,000 across 94 verified purchases. Per-framework fees and C3PAO fees sit outside the platform number.

#### What Stays On Your Team

Everything the platform flags.

#### Setup

Cloud, identity and HR systems connect through the integration library.

#### Tradeoffs

Drata is a strong choice for a company with engineers who want to treat NIST SP 800-171 as code and a team to run it. It is quote-gated at every tier, carries hidden costs third-party analysts estimate at 20 to 81 percent over the base license, and offers no committed date. Confirm GCC High and on-prem coverage before signing.

### 9. Redspin

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1903x913/fff2f398f8/redspin.png)

**Best for:** organizations that want a C3PAO with the longest assessment track record and a readiness path to match.

**Compliance Service Score:** 6.8/10

Redspin describes itself as one of the very first authorized C3PAOs, with the most assessment experience in the ecosystem, and it offers readiness assessments and gap remediation planning alongside formal Level 2 assessments.

#### Service Overview

Readiness assessments that identify gaps and turn them into action items before the formal assessment, remediation planning, and C3PAO Level 2 assessments. Redspin positions on institutional knowledge of how DoD contractors succeed and fail across the Defense Industrial Base.

#### Pricing

Quote only, scoped by engagement. Redspin publishes no rates. Ask for readiness and assessment priced separately and how the two are kept apart under Cyber AB rules.

#### What Stays On Your Team

Remediation and program operation between readiness and assessment. The organization Redspin assesses is one it did not prepare.

#### Setup

Sales-led scoping, then readiness where engaged, then assessment scheduling.

#### Tradeoffs

Redspin is the C3PAO to consider when assessment experience is the deciding factor. The model is assessment and advisory, not implementation; the controls and the enclave are yours, and no readiness date is committed.

### 10. Summit 7

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1902x915/157a36d98b/summit7.png)

**Best for:** defense suppliers whose CUI lives in Microsoft GCC High and who want the enclave built and operated as a managed service.

**Compliance Service Score:** 6.7/10

Summit 7 is one of the leading managed service and managed security service providers for DoD contractors, per A-LIGN's own partnership announcement, and it builds and operates CUI environments on Microsoft GCC High. It is the one provider on this list whose core offering is running the infrastructure the controls live in.

#### Service Overview

Managed IT and security for the Defense Industrial Base: GCC High tenant design and migration, enclave architecture, managed security operations, and the NIST SP 800-171 controls operated inside the managed environment, with partner C3PAOs including A-LIGN for assessment.

#### Pricing

Quote only; managed-service subscription scoped to the environment. Ask what the enclave build costs separately from the monthly service, and how the assessment is coordinated and priced through the partner C3PAO.

#### What Stays On Your Team

Business processes outside the enclave, the System Security Plan approval, the affirmation your senior official signs, and coordination with the assessor. The infrastructure controls are operated by Summit 7.

#### Setup

Project-led enclave build and migration, then managed operations.

#### Tradeoffs

Summit 7 is the right choice when the CUI environment itself is the problem and you want it built and run on GCC High by people who do only this.

The managed service covers the infrastructure controls; the organizational controls, the documentation and the affirmation remain yours, the assessment is a partner's, and the commitment is to the service level rather than to a readiness date.

### 11. Kratos

![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1903x917/eaf7ac4615/kratos.png)

**Best for:** defense technology programs that want a Level 2 assessment from a C3PAO embedded in the defense industry.

**Compliance Service Score:** 6.2/10

Kratos Technology & Training Solutions is an authorized C3PAO within Kratos, a defense technology company, offering Level 2 assessments alongside a range of cybersecurity services for defense programs.

#### Service Overview

C3PAO Level 2 assessments and cybersecurity services from an organization embedded in the defense industry.

#### Pricing

Quote only, scoped by engagement. Kratos publishes no rates.

#### What Stays On Your Team

All implementation and program operation. Kratos assesses the result.

#### Setup

Sales-led scoping and assessment scheduling.

#### Tradeoffs

Kratos fits a defense technology program that wants its assessor to understand the industry from the inside. It is an assessor, not an implementation service, and no readiness date is committed.

### 12. ![](https://a-us.storyblok.com/f/1022609/1906x917/bd1dcbc045/preveil.png)

**Best for:** small suppliers that need an encrypted CUI enclave at a published price and will source readiness and assessment through partners.

**Compliance Service Score:** 6.0/10

PreVeil is an encrypted email and file-sharing enclave for CUI with published per-user pricing, designed so that small suppliers can keep CUI out of their main environment, and it maintains a partner network of RPOs, MSPs and C3PAOs for readiness and assessment.

#### Product Overview

An end-to-end encrypted enclave for storing and sharing CUI that addresses a subset of the NIST SP 800-171 controls by design, plus a partner directory of Registered Provider Organizations, managed service providers and authorized C3PAOs who work with PreVeil environments.

#### Pricing

Published per-user pricing on PreVeil's own site; readiness, remaining controls and assessment are priced by the partners you engage.

#### What Stays On Your Team

Everything outside the enclave: the remaining controls, the System Security Plan, the organizational policies, the evidence and the assessment.

#### Setup

Self-serve enclave deployment, then partner engagement for readiness and assessment.

#### Tradeoffs

PreVeil is the lowest-friction way for a small supplier to put CUI in a compliant enclave at a known price. It covers a subset of the controls, not the program: the rest of NIST SP 800-171, the documentation and the assessment are yours or your partners', and no readiness date is committed.

## How We Built This Guide

We started with the status of the program as of October 2026, because it changes what a buyer is actually purchasing: with Phase 2 suspended, the job is implementing and sustaining NIST SP 800-171 and being ready for an assessment that is voluntary today and may be mandatory again.

Every provider was then assessed on who performs that work, who assesses it, and how the two are kept apart under Cyber AB rules.

The status section is drawn from the Department of Defense CIO's CMMC page, the July 13, 2026 suspension memorandum, the September 3, 2026 class deviation, and the Cyber AB's July 15, 2026 statement, as summarized by law firms and compliance publishers in September and October 2026.

Provider descriptions come from each provider's own published material and C3PAO authorization status as published by the Cyber AB marketplace and the providers themselves; third-party pricing is attributed as observed ranges. Where a claim could not be sourced, we left it out or turned it into a question.

EasyAudit was scored on the same seven criteria and weights as every other provider, with the timeline adjustment stated in the methodology, and every provider carries the same scores on every page of this series.

## How To Choose a CMMC Compliance Service

Six steps, each specific enough to run this week.

### Step 1: Confirm What Is Actually Required of You Today

Find every DFARS 252.204-7012, 7019, 7020 and 7021 clause and every prime flow-down, and write down which level each requires and whether it names a self-assessment or a C3PAO certificate.

Phase 2 is suspended at the federal level, but Level 1 and Level 2 self-assessments, SPRS scores, annual affirmations and NIST SP 800-171 remain in force, a prime may still require the certificate, and an existing one satisfies any award. What is owed today decides which providers you need.

### Step 2: Separate What the Provider Does From What Your Team Does

Get a written split of responsibilities for the 110 controls, the System Security Plan, the policies, the evidence and the SPRS scoring, with hours per week from your team in month two. A C3PAO cannot, by rule, implement what it will assess. A consultancy produces a roadmap. A platform tracks. If the answer to "who implements it" is your IT lead, budget the IT lead.

### Step 3: Check Whether the Provider Is a C3PAO, a Consultancy or a Managed Service

The roles are not interchangeable. An authorized C3PAO assesses and certifies, and Cyber AB rules bar it from assessing an organization it prepared. A consultancy or RPO assesses gaps and advises. A managed service provider builds and operates the CUI environment, often on Microsoft GCC High. A platform gives your team a workspace. A service performs the program.

Ask each provider which it is, confirm C3PAO status on the Cyber AB marketplace, and ask how firms holding both C3PAO and RPO roles separate them.

### Step 4: Ask How the Self-Assessment Evidence Will Be Recorded and Retained

The annual affirmation is signed by a senior official, and if a prime or a contracting officer asks for the evidence behind the SPRS score, the company stands on whatever was kept.

Ask each provider how evidence is collected, whether approvals record who accepted a control and when, whether the trail is enforced below the application layer so it cannot be bypassed, how long it is retained, and who can see it read-only. Evidence that lives in a spreadsheet does not survive the question.

### Step 5: Map CMMC Work Against the Other Frameworks You Will Need

Defense suppliers with commercial customers are asked for SOC 2 by the enterprise buyer and ISO 27001 by the international tenant, on controls that overlap NIST SP 800-171 by 60 to 80 percent. Ask each provider whether those frameworks are separate projects or mappings of the same controls and evidence, and what percentage carries over.

One control library serving up to seven frameworks means the CMMC program is the foundation, not a silo.

### Step 6: Put the Date and the Consequence in Writing

Ask for a committed readiness date and what happens if it slips, then ask what "ready" means on your path: a defensible SPRS score and signed affirmation, or submission to a C3PAO. Most providers commit to neither.

EasyAudit dates the timeline in the Simulation on either path and puts its fee behind the date wherever a third-party assessment is in scope, with the C3PAO alone deciding the result.

## CMMC Compliance Services Pricing and Costs in 2026

Four cost models appear among CMMC compliance providers, and the first thing to notice is that the C3PAO assessment fee, the number most buyers ask about first, is the one that may not be due this year.

**Assessor fees.** Authorized C3PAOs quote Level 2 assessments by scope and publish no rates; readiness assessments from the same firms are priced separately and must be kept apart from the assessment under Cyber AB rules. While Phase 2 is suspended these fees apply only to voluntary assessments and prime-required certificates.

**Enclave and managed service fees.** PreVeil publishes per-user pricing for its encrypted enclave; Summit 7 and other managed service providers quote a build project plus a monthly subscription for operating a GCC High environment. These cover the infrastructure controls, not the organizational ones, the documentation or the assessment.

**Platform subscriptions and consultancy scopes.** Vanta, Drata and Secureframe quote by headcount and framework count, with observed contracts from about $7,500 to more than $100,000 a year and Vendr medians between $20,000 and $38,000; CMMC is an added framework at an incremental fee.

CBIZ Pivot Point Security and other RPOs quote gap assessments and vCISO hours by engagement; third-party guides put an external readiness or gap assessment at $10,000 to $40,000 depending on size. The implementation is your team's time in every one of these models.

**Outcome-priced service.** EasyAudit runs the free Compliance Simulation on your own environment first, then fixes the investment and the readiness date at signature, with its fee at risk wherever a third-party assessment is in scope. C3PAO fees remain separate, because an authorized C3PAO issues the result.

### The questions defense suppliers ask about price, answered

**"Phase 2 is suspended. Why spend anything now?"** Because DFARS 7012, NIST SP 800-171, SPRS scores and the annual affirmation were never suspended, primes can still require a certificate, and the Reform Task Force can reinstate third-party assessment on short notice. The controls are the program; the certificate is the receipt.

The Simulation scores your readiness free so you know what the program costs before you decide.

**"How much will it cost and how long will it take?"** The Simulation answers both on your own data before you sign: readiness against NIST SP 800-171, every material gap, the dated timeline and the investment. About 75 minutes of scheduled time across two calls.

**"We already have a GCC High enclave and an MSP."** Then the infrastructure controls may be covered and the organizational controls, the SSP, the evidence and the affirmation may not be. The Simulation shows which is which on your real environment.

**"Our commercial customers want SOC 2. Is that a second program?"** With most providers, yes. On one control library the NIST SP 800-171 controls you implemented for CMMC satisfy SOC 2 and ISO 27001 wherever they ask for them, and the program carries 60 to 70 percent fewer controls than running the frameworks in parallel.

**"We posted an SPRS score years ago and have been affirming it since."** You are not alone, and the suspension made that affirmation the only verification standing. The Simulation produces the first honest number free, and the work to make it true is what we perform.

## Questions To Ask Before You Choose a CMMC Compliance Provider

Six questions. Ask every provider the same six, including us, and compare the answers side by side.

1. **Which of the 110 controls do you implement, and which do we?** Get the split in writing, with the System Security Plan, the policies and the evidence named, and hours per week from our team in month two.
2. **Where does our CUI live when you are done, and who operates that environment?** GCC High, commercial 365, on-prem; managed by whom.
3. **Who assesses us, and did you prepare us?** If you hold both roles, how are they separated under Cyber AB rules. If you never assess, how do you coordinate with the C3PAO we choose.
4. **What does "ready" mean on our path?** A defensible SPRS score and signed affirmation, or submission to a C3PAO, and by what date.
5. **What happens when a control fails between affirmations?** Who detects it, who fixes it, who updates the SSP, and who tells the official who signs.
6. **What do SOC 2 and ISO 27001 cost on the same controls?** The per-framework fee and the percentage of controls and evidence that carry over.

## What To Verify Before You Sign

CMMC programs fail at the affirmation. The senior official signs that 110 controls are implemented, a prime or a contracting officer later asks for the evidence, and the gap between the score and the environment becomes the company's problem rather than the provider's. Verification is how you find that gap before you sign anything.

**Critical checks:**

- The written responsibility split for the controls, the SSP, the policies and the evidence, signed by the provider, with named owners.
- The C3PAO's authorization on the Cyber AB marketplace, and written confirmation that it did not prepare you, wherever a third-party assessment is in scope.
- A sample System Security Plan the provider produced for a supplier like yours, read for whether it describes a real environment or a template.
- The audit trail: approvals show who and when, the trail is enforced below the application layer so it cannot be bypassed, and retention covers the three-year assessment cycle. Database-level trails with 7-year retention exist in this category; ask for the equivalent.
- Read-only access for the assessor or prime reviewer, demonstrated: view but not alter or approve.
- The year-two price, the per-framework price, the enclave operating cost and the exit terms, in the contract, not the deck.

**Name specific systems to test during evaluation:** your GCC High or commercial Microsoft 365 tenant and Purview, Entra ID or Active Directory, Intune or your endpoint manager, the manufacturing or lab network, your HR and ticketing systems, and the physical controls: badge access, visitor logs, media handling. Ask for evidence collected from each during the trial or the Simulation, not from a demo tenant.

## Key Capabilities to Look for in a CMMC Compliance Service

### 1. Controls Implemented, Not Tracked

If the provider's deliverable is a dashboard of 110 controls with your team's names on the open ones, the work is still ahead of you. Look for a provider whose people implement the controls, write the SSP and policies from your environment, and collect the evidence, with your team reviewing and signing.

### 2. Reach Into the Estate Where CUI Lives

If the integration library stops at AWS, the CUI in your GCC High tenant and on your shop floor is invisible to it. Look for monitoring that covers Microsoft 365 and Purview, Entra ID and Intune, and for a named person who will stand on the floor when a physical control requires it.

### 3. A Clean Line Between Preparing and Assessing

If the organization that helped you implement wants to assess you too, Cyber AB rules say it cannot. Look for providers that separate the roles by team or client and will document it, or for a readiness provider that never assesses, so you choose the C3PAO on its merits.

### 4. Evidence That Survives the Affirmation

If the affirmation is challenged, the evidence behind the score is what the company stands on. Look for approvals recorded with who and when, a trail enforced below the application layer, evidence traceable to source rather than screenshots, and continuous monitoring so the score is true in month eleven, not only on the day it was posted.

### 5. One Control Library Into SOC 2 and ISO 27001

If your commercial customers' frameworks arrive as separate projects, you are paying for the same controls three times. Look for one library every framework maps into, so a NIST SP 800-171 control satisfies SOC 2 and ISO 27001 wherever they ask for it. Ask what percentage carries over; in EasyAudit's program the reduction is 60 to 70 percent against parallel frameworks.

### 6. A Date That Means Something on Your Path

If the provider's fee is safe whether or not you are ready when the prime asks, the timeline is a hope. Look for a readiness date locked at signature and a stated consequence for missing it, and read the boundary carefully: no provider can promise the assessor's decision, and on a self-assessment path there is no third party to submit to.

## Which CMMC Compliance Service Is Right for Your Organization?

If a prime requires a Level 2 certificate or you want a voluntary one, choose the authorized C3PAO first: A-LIGN for readiness, platform and assessment under one firm with FedRAMP alongside, Coalfire Federal for a mock assessment before the real one, Redspin for assessment experience, Schellman when SOC 2 and ISO 27001 sit beside CMMC, Kratos for a defense-industry assessor. Then decide who implements, because the C3PAO cannot.

If your CUI environment does not exist yet or needs to be rebuilt on GCC High, Summit 7 or another managed service provider builds and runs it; PreVeil if a small supplier needs an encrypted enclave at a published price.

If you have a security team that will implement NIST SP 800-171 itself, Vanta, Drata or Secureframe gives it a workspace, Secureframe with an expert bench. If you want a scoped gap assessment and a roadmap, CBIZ Pivot Point Security.

If the controls have to be implemented and kept true, the affirmation has to become defensible, nobody internal is going to do it, and your commercial customers will ask for SOC 2 or ISO 27001 on the same controls, choose the provider that performs the work on one control library and puts its fee behind the date wherever a third-party assessment is in scope. That is EasyAudit. [Request a Demo](https://cevuno.co/demo) and decide from your own numbers.

## Is EasyAudit Worth Its Cost?

Against a platform seat or an enclave subscription, no, if your team will implement the controls and your CUI already lives in a managed environment. Those are the rational purchases for a supplier with a security function and the time to use it.

Against what a defensible CMMC program costs a regulated company, the comparison changes. Add the gap assessment. Add the hours to implement 110 controls and write the SSP from templates. Add the consultant hired when the SPRS score has to be defended.

Add the SOC 2 and ISO 27001 projects bought separately on the same controls, and the deal that waits while each one runs. Consultants and human-centric tools cost ten to a hundred times more manual hours than Autonomous Compliance, and none of them puts a fee at risk on your date.

EasyAudit is the right purchase when a true affirmation and an assessment-ready program are what you are buying, and implementing and sustaining the controls is what you want to stop doing. The Simulation exists so you can check that on your own environment before spending a dollar. Compliance runs on someone's time. We changed whose.

## FAQs

### Is CMMC still required in 2026?

The controls are. Phase 2, which would have made C3PAO assessments a condition of award from November 10, 2026, was suspended on July 13, 2026, and a September 3 class deviation removed third-party requirements from contracts. Self-assessments, SPRS scores, annual affirmations and DFARS 7012's NIST SP 800-171 obligation all remain in force.

### What is the difference between CMMC Level 1, Level 2 (Self) and Level 2 (C3PAO)?

Level 1 covers Federal Contract Information with 17 practices and an annual self-assessment. Level 2 covers Controlled Unclassified Information with the 110 NIST SP 800-171 controls: Level 2 (Self) is a triennial self-assessment with annual affirmation; Level 2 (C3PAO) is the same controls assessed by an authorized third party, currently voluntary.

### How much do CMMC compliance services cost?

No provider publishes a program price. Third-party guides put a gap assessment at $10,000 to $40,000 by size, platforms run from about $7,500 to over $100,000 a year, enclaves and managed services are quoted by environment, and C3PAO fees apply only where a third-party assessment is in scope. EasyAudit fixes its price at signature.

### What is a C3PAO and do we still need one?

A C3PAO is an organization authorized by the Cyber AB to conduct CMMC Level 2 certification assessments. With Phase 2 suspended, no federal contract can currently require one, but primes may, existing certificates stay valid for three years, and voluntary assessments continue. If no one requires it, make the self-assessment defensible first.

### Does CMMC work carry over to NIST CSF, SOC 2 or ISO 27001?

Only if the provider maps controls across frameworks instead of running each as its own project. NIST SP 800-171 controls map into NIST CSF 2.0, the Trust Services Criteria and Annex A, and the evidence overlaps by 60 to 80 percent. On one control library, EasyAudit's program carries 60 to 70 percent fewer controls.
